Perama, on the green side of Corfu
Close enough to Corfu Town for dinner, far enough from the resorts to hear the cicadas at night.
Where the house sits
Perama is a village on the coast road a few kilometres south of Corfu Town, on the slope above the Chalikiopoulos lagoon. Casa Corfu stands back from the road inside its olive grove, which is what keeps it quiet.
The waterfront and its tavernas are a short walk downhill. The airport is close enough that arrival is painless, though the villa sits away from the approach path and the grove absorbs what little sound there is.

The lagoon and Mouse Island
Perama looks straight across the Chalikiopoulos lagoon to Pontikonisi, the small cypress-covered island in every photograph of Corfu. A causeway walk takes you over the water to Kanoni for the view back.

Corfu Town
A UNESCO listed Venetian old town of arcades, shuttered lanes and two fortresses, fifteen minutes up the coast road. Dinner in town and back before midnight is an ordinary evening here.

The Achilleion Palace
Empress Elisabeth of Austria built her summer palace in Gastouri, on the hillside just behind Perama. It is ten minutes away, and the terrace has one of the best views on the island.
Getting here
By air
Corfu International Airport (CFU) is about five kilometres away, roughly ten minutes by car. Direct summer flights run from most of Europe. We can arrange a transfer to meet you.
By car
The villa has private parking. A hire car is worth having: the north of the island and Paleokastritsa are an easy day out, and the coast road south opens up the quieter beaches.
By sea
The new port at Corfu Town takes ferries from Igoumenitsa on the mainland and from Italy. It is about twenty minutes from the house.
